I'm Back!

Hello everyone, and apologies for the lack of updates over the last seven months. I've been working from home since March due to COVID, and it has been challenging. The idea behind this blog was to do frequent updates on various gaming and hardware topics.

Unfortunately, in July, I had a personal setback. I have an investment property, and the tenant that was in there for better a word trashed the place. I had to evict them straight away before they did further damage.

To keep costs to a minimum, I decided to do as much of the renovating as possible. It's a three-bedroom unit; I had to commence all the painting, patch holes in the plaster, replace wardrobe and cupboard doors, install new carpet, new light fittings, and much more. After six months of renovations and over $20,000 in expenditure, I finally finished. I still had to do my day-to-day job while all this was happening, unfortunately, something had to give, and that was this blog.

I've always said, everything happens for a reason. Instead of getting a new tenant, I decided to move my entire video game and computer collection from my garage to the unit. I finally have a proper home for them, instead of leaving half of them in cardboard boxes.

I've converted one of the bedrooms to a library, and I'm quite happy with the result. The shelving is from Ikea. I have my collection of Retro Gamer and Edge magazines in one place and number order.

In case I need to stay back late or if a friend wants to stay over, I've set up a guest bed and a little nook with some consoles to play games, listen to music, or watch a movie. I have the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One X, and PlayStation 4 Pro connected to a Hisense 32 inch TV.

The largest room in the unit is where my day-to-day office is. It will also contain my retro PCs such as the Commodore 64, Amiga, Amstrad 6128, and many others. A local carpenter custom-made the L-shaped bench for me.

And lastly, this will be the games room, where retro and modern consoles will share the space. I have a Loewe CRT with SCART, S-Video, and Composite for the older systems, and a new Hisense 4K TV for the Switch, Atari VCS, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 when I eventually get them.

So the plan for the next two weeks is to finish off the games room, connect some of the retro PCs, and upload regular posts containing interesting articles, reviews, and whatever comes to mind. Thanks for your patience.
